Dubai:  The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) is empowering workers with a new video call service for faster resolution of labor concerns.

While workers still have the right to register complaints through the call center or MOHRE website, the video call initiative, launched in June 2024, offers a convenient and efficient platform for employees to file complaints, seek clarifications, and connect directly with MOHRE representatives.

Whether you want to file a complaint related to late salary payments, unpaid gratuity, or wrongful termination, the recently launched service will connect you to a qualified, multilingual team to address your specific needs.

How to request a video call

Workers can access the video call service through two channels: MOHRE's official WhatsApp number (600590000) or the MOHRE app.

Via WhatsApp

How to request the video call

  • Complainants have the option to request the video call service through MOHRE’s official WhatsApp number – 600590000.

  • Send a message on the number and then select the ‘Establishments and Workers’ option.

  • Choose whether you are an employee or employer and then select the video call option by sending the message ‘6’.

  • You will then receive a link to a form, which you need to fill out with your basic employment details. You will then receive a link for the video call, which you can click on to speak to a MOHRE team member.

Via MOHRE App:

  • Log in with your UAE Pass.

  • Open the MOHRE app and tap on ‘Support’ services.

  • Tap on the ‘Video Call’ option. You will then have to fill out a form with the following details – full name, email, and mobile number. Tap ‘Submit’.

  • After a few seconds, you will receive a confirmation from MOHRE about your request and a link to the video call. You have to make sure that you allow the app to access your camera, through the settings app.

Working Hours for Video Call Service

The MOHRE video call service is available during the following hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am to 3:00 pm

  • Friday: 7:30 am to 12:00 pm

  • Alternative Channels for Filing Labour Complaints

Free zone workers

Free zone workers? File a complaint with their free zone authority first. If mediation fails, then escalate to MOHRE.

Faster resolution for claims under Dh50,000

UAE private sector workers facing overdue payments like gratuity or overtime can now breathe a sigh of relief. Since January 2024, a new law, Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2023 has expedited the process of collecting these claims, particularly for amounts under Dh50,000.

The Ministry of Human Resources now has the authority to make final decisions on such disputes, bypassing the traditional court system which can be time-consuming.

This is a significant improvement for workers seeking faster resolution for claims that fall within this threshold or involve a breach of a previously agreed settlement.
